For Thanksgiving we went over to Sharon Kane's place. She lived with Chi Chi La Rue in a big house right off Melrose (where I ended up living less than a year later...more on that in a 'Fall 1996' blog...stay tuned).
Anyway- We had a nice time at the house. Chi Chi was back in Minnesota with his family so Sharon decided to make use of the kitchen and host Thanksgiving dinner for a few of us. We had a really nice time.
Around that time, Johnny Rey was directing his next movie "Pheromones: The Smell of Sex" in a friend's Hollywood Hills house where the backyard doubled for an ancient forest filled with horned, hoofed, fanged, tailed creatures all looking for eachother's animalistic man-scent to bring them together.
The movie followed his 'senses of sex' theme...the first one being "Pure Sex"...the second "A Score of Sex"...and now the "Smell of Sex" which starred Jeff Austin, Gianfranco, Casey Jordan, JD Demarco, and Dave Russell in his first porn movie ever.
If I recall correctly, Jeff Austin was staying with us from out of town and after the shoot we had a little fun with our friend Larry (Latoya Latex) who passed out from the exhaustion of the day's shooting...
Soon after the shoot was finished, it was time for Gay Disneyland. Our group consisted of some friends of mine from Phoenix, our drag queen friends from LA (Latoya & Allie), and Chip Daniels, Hank Hightower and their boyfriends.
We had a lot of fun. I wish they did Gay Disneyland like that again. In those days they used to close down the park and reopen it from 8:pm to 1:am just for the gays!
Then the Gay Video Awards were held (separate slideshow to follow....)
Then we celebrated my birthday. I was still working at Wolfgang's and Johnny surprised me with my very own Christmas tree and two kittens (Samantha & Gizmo).
I came home from work and there they were.
Then on the day of my birthday he threw me a surprise party (in which he told me about over the phone because I was about to ruin it by coming home early from work). SURPRISE!...not. That's OK. It was still a great night. I don't know why I don't have pictures from that party....
Anyway- then we spent Christmas Eve at Chip Daniels' place with Allie, Latoya, & Sharon. I think that was the only Christmas I didn't spend with my family. That's why I don't usually date around the holidays anymore ;-)
